Easton Children's Museum

The Easton Children's Museum has just informed us that admission with our pass will no longer be free as of April 1. The pass then will entitle "up to 50% off regular admission" for up to four people. Regular admission is $6.00. Also, we've not yet received word as to when the Boston Children's Museum is reopening, but will let you know as soon as we find out!

Tax Forms

The library has federal and state tax forms, zillions of them! We also have reproducible forms for those the government doesn't send us. Our website also includes links to the IRS and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for their forms. We can't provide tax advice, but we can provide forms!

St. Patrick's Day

Information about this March 17 holiday celebrated in honor of the patron saint of Ireland. Features background about St. Patrick, a listing of parades and events throughout the world, a listing of Irish pubs, and an Irish quiz. Also includes links to Irish toasts and Irish slang. Container Gardening

We're having a program on Container Gardening on March 27 (see our event calendar).
Whether your space is limited to a small garden or a patio, or you even have a large yard,
container gardens are fun! Whether you're planting a window box, or pots of flowers, herbs, or vegetables...here are some good ideas!

Downloadable books

We've been offering downloadable books through our Sails system for a year or two, and they are quite popular! New titles are added monthly and some titles are always available. Teen reads, cookbooks, titles that were made into movies...lots of choices are there! Titles are downloadable to a computer or to an MP3 player (although Ipods make it VERY difficult).
We've got bookmarks at the main desk to help, and instructions on the website are thorough.

Museum Passes from Other Libraries

You may not be aware that most of the libraries in the Sails network share their museum passes with residents of other towns. There are dozens of museums and cultural destinations, and of course budgets don't allow for us to buy every one. On our website, under museums, there is a place to "click here for a list of passes at other libraries." It is updated annually. Many of the Sails libraries also allow on-line booking, as we do.

Mansfield has just joined the Mystic Aquarium (weekend passes only) and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.

Rhode Island School of Design Museum passes

We've just added RISD Museum passes to those we offer our patrons! The museum features 45 galleries on three floors, and is currently featuring a special exhibit, FEATHERS, FLOWERS, TALONS AND FANGS: Power and Serenity in Japanese Nature Prints. Youth Librarian Kitty Schacht suggests that the museum is a nice one for children to visit, as it is on a much smaller scale than the MFA. The museum is closed on Mondays, and passes are available for every other day. Remember you can book our passes on-line from home through our website. Questions? Please call us at 508-261-7380.

New Shelves!

The library is 18 years old this year, and if you look around, you'll see we are full to bursting! We've enjoyed that nice center aisle which divides the fiction and non-fiction, but as our collection has grown we desperately needed that space. Yesterday we filled it up with new shelving, nicely topped with oak to match our other bookcases and furniture. The Trustees authorized the purchase using state grant funds.

We'll be reorganizing, with fiction most likely to fill those shelves. If you have trouble finding anything, please let us know!

Sisters in Crime

This month the organization "Sisters in Crime" is celebrating its 20th anniversary! We're helping the sisters (and brothers too) celebrate by featuring a display that includes mysteries by many of the New England chapter members.

The New England chapter is called the Scarlet Letters and the website is found at www.sincne.org.
